Sentinels Begin Road Schedule Against Rival Scarecrows
The Indiana Sentinels come to Landon Arena in Topeka following a successful start to the season, sweeping the Minnesota Northern Lights on home ice.
Last year these two teams met 14 times, with the Indiana Sentinels coming away with 5 victories. Of those five wins, three of them came at Landon Arena.
“We came in here last year with an ‘I don’t care’ attitude took over their home,” remarked Sentinels Forward Noah Hippolyte-Smith. “We need to come out with that exact same attitude”.
The Sentinels and the Scarecrows both joined the league last year but had two quite different experiences. As we all know, the Sentinels had a challenging time stringing victories together and missed the playoffs. The Scarecrows on the other hand were the 7th best team in the FPHL and made the playoffs only to be swept in two games by the eventual champion Binghamton Black Bears.
Tonight, will be the first game of the season for the Scarecrows, and the Sentinels will be prepared for a fast-paced start and a raucous environment.
“What comes in the first game of the year is those jitters and the mistakes,” said Everett Thompson after morning skate. “The one benefit we have is being a little more settled now. We’re going to try and settle in the first five to ten minutes of the game and make some calculations after that”.
Both teams still have a number of star players that are unable to play tonight due to the ongoing visa issues. The Sentinels will be without Denver Craig, Nolan Dawson, Aldiyar Nurlan, Bogdan Vysotsky, Ian McDonald, Trent Thiessen, and Marian Pazitka. Topeka will be missing Yegor Litvinov, Egor Fillipov, Trevor Grasby and Steven Klinck to name a few.
Just because those players will be out of the lineup does not mean there won’t be a good amount of offense being produced. The Sentinels showed last week that they have plenty of guys who can carry the mail with those players being out of the lineup. The Scarecrows have some pretty big boppers themselves with Scott Coash, Elijah Wilson and Cameron Clark all playing in tonight’s game.
The Indiana Sentinels Pre-Game Show, presented by Body Armor will get started at 7:50 pm ET. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:05 pm ET, however there will be some opening night festivities here that may push that back a tad. Tune in on the Sentinels Hockey Network on YouTube for all the action!
