Looking for Consistency, Sentinels Prepare for a Weekend with the Wolves
Last weekend, the Indiana Sentinels started their schedule against Great Lakes Division opponents, and their first test was the Motor City Rockers who came in to the weekend after losing two straight - a shootout loss to Minnesota and a 5-2 loss to the Port Huron Prowlers.
Friday night saw the Sentinels continue their trend of starting the game slow, but picking up speed as time went along. Down 1-0 after the first, the Sentinels got a Ross Bartlett goal under a minute into the second period to tie the game. Just when it looked like we would be heading to extra time, Noah Hippolyte-Smith cleaned up a rebound and potted his first goal in his last 19 games to give the Sentinels the lead, and secure the first FPHL victory for Cooper Olson.
The Sentinels were not pleased with their effort Friday night, and came out with a punch on Saturday. Fast, physical and relentless were the Sentinels in the opening period and their hard work earned them a 1-0 lead thanks to the first professional goal for Jason Tynan. However, the spark fizzled out for Indiana in the final two periods, and the Rockers would walk away with a 4-1 victory.
On the road to Watertown this weekend, the Sentinels for the first time this season will not be in first place in the Great Lakes Division. It is essential for Indiana to have a good showing against a struggling Watertown group. They cannot afford to leave any points on the table, and need to put together some dominant performances to get back on the right track.
Watertown has some firepower up front with Donovan Powell paving the way in just about every offensive category, as well as Bret Parker who has 7 points in 6 games this season. He and Powell are tied for the team lead in goals with four.
This weekend will provide a very good opportunity for the Sentinels powerplay to get back on track with the Watertown penalty kill coming into the weekend in dead last in the league at 59% on the season.
