IU Columbus Partners with Indiana Sentinels to Strengthen Community Connections

Collaboration brings new opportunities for students, athletes, and fans in Columbus

Columbus, IN — September 12, 2025 — IU Columbus is excited to announce a new partnership with the Indiana Sentinels, a newly established professional hockey team bringing fresh energy to the Columbus community. This collaboration will expand opportunities for student engagement, create unique game day experiences, and strengthen ties between the campus and the region’s growing sports community.

Through the partnership, fans and students can look forward to special game promotions, collaborative events, and opportunities to celebrate both the Sentinels and IU Columbus athletics.

“What the Indiana Sentinels bring to Columbus is a home professional team,” said Zach McClellan, Director of Athletics at IU Columbus,. “It just seemed like a no-brainer for IU Columbus, the home collegiate program in Columbus, to partner with the home professional team. We are extremely excited to support their efforts` and watch their games.”

About the Indiana Sentinels

The Indiana Sentinels are a professional hockey team based in Columbus, Indiana, founded in 2025 with a mission to bring high-level competition and community pride to the region. The Sentinels will compete in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) when the 2025-26 season begins in October of 2025. The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 15th season during 2024-25. The Sentinels are committed to delivering an exciting fan experience, developing talent, and supporting local partnerships. With strong ties to the Indiana community, the team aims to inspire the next generation of athletes and foster a culture of excellence both on and off the ice.
