Indiana Sentinels Training Camp: Day Two Recap

After a long and exhausting day one of training camp, the Sentinels had a bit of a slower pace day today in order to properly recover.

The day started early this morning at a meeting room inside Hotel Indigo in Columbus, where Head Coach Everett Thompson walked the guys through some systems with an in-depth video session. Thompson utilized this time to show the players exactly what he expects systematically from his team during a game.

After the meeting, the boys went straight to the rink for practice and were put through the paces with a plethora of drills that worked on passing, timing, and working with your linemates.

Practice slowed down a bit towards the middle as coach started to implement a lot of the systems he was referring to in the morning meeting. The guys ran through a number of different situations and ended up working on them at game speed in a scrimmage setting.

To finish their time on-ice, coach went back to small area games, working the boys on moving around in tight spaces and winning board battles. His last act of the afternoon was to have the players push the nets the full length of the ice and back. With the ice as torn up as it was, the nets picked up a solid amount of snow which made the nets all the heavier.

The guys ended their day with another intense workout with AEI Fitness and a quick lunch before shutting it down for the remainder of the day.

Tomorrow the guys have another busy day with two on-ice sessions and an off-ice session at AEI mixed in. Only 8 days until the season begins! The Sents are looking more and more prepared every day.
